    DONATION TO KORLEBU TEACHING HOSPITAL CHILDREN'S CANCER UNIT

    NCVOGHANA collaborated with a UK based dance and fitness instructor MoveWithkb raise awareness for childhood cancer in Ghana. We organised Afro motion dance at Afrikiko restaurant and it was led by MoveWithkb. We raised GHC 3,150 and donated to childhood cancer unit korlebu teaching hospital, Accra Ghana. Event was funded by friends and family.

    #The international day of the girl child (11th of October,2020) Under the theme: My voice, our equal future, Better Health for all (BEHFA) celebrating the International day of the girl child, by promoting access to Menstrual Hygiene education amongst adolescent girls of Primary school Melam West Region. The International Day of the Girl Child is a global event declared by the United Nations, to support more opportunities for girls and increase awareness on gender inequalities faced by girls globally. It Is also known as the Day of Girl child and it's usually celebrated every 11th of October.     Social Accountability Training in Liberia

    Currently, our team is in Liberia for a Social Accountability #Training in partnership with Development Education Network -Liberia for UN Women partners in Montserrado. This training aims at building the #capacity of women’s rights advocates and relevant #CSOs to be able to seek accountability from duty bearers. After day 1, a participant says; “The training delivery was unique and impressive, most especially the exercises.     The Roman Pontiff Supports Vulnerable Population battle with COVID-19

    The Roman Pontiff supports Ghana's Vulnerable Population Cope with COVID-19ContentAs part of Emergency Relief Programme to support vulnerable groups affected by Covid 19 outbreak, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, through the Dicastery for promoting Integral Human Development allocated funds to Caritas Internationalis who in turn sent the funds to Caritas Ghana of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference to provide relief items to the most affected populations in four Archdioceses in Ghana. The Archdiocese of Kumasi is one of the beneficiaries of this donation.

    Turning Street Girls into into Entrepreneurs

    AS a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Safe-Child Advocacy (formerly Street Children Project) set out to engage with children in street situation, encouraging children to return home with the offer of sponsorship in skill training or formal education, depending on the choice of the individual child or young person. Since April 2020, Safe-Child has facilitated the return home of over 60 street connected children/young women from the street of Kumasi. From July till September 2020, Safe-Child has been enrolling the young girls assisted to quit the street into employable skill training of their choices after ensuring family reintegration of the young women. In the last few days, 30 young women who would have still been on the street were enrolled into different skill training programmes with training fees paid and sewing machines and other equipment provided to facilitate learning.

    Night Street work by Safe-Child Advocacy

    One spectacular activity carried out by Safe-Child Advocacy in the last few days, in the bid to respond to the current pandemic, was embaking on a night street work to give out sleeping items (mats and blankets) to homeless persons around the city of Kumasi. It was both an exciting and a moving experience. It brought tears to our eyes at the sufferings of people. At the same time we were glad for the means and the courage to reach out so close to persons in distressing situations.
