- Exploits actuels ou majeurs : • Moremi Initiative is widely recognized today as a leading and pioneer organization promoting women’s leadership development and social justice in Africa. We have a track record of over 12 years fostering innovative and long-term leadership development for exceptional young leaders. Our investments in transformational leadership continue to inspire and equip a new generation of women leaders on the continent. Moremi’s MILEAD Fellows Program is one of the most competitive and impactful leadership initiatives on the continent today, attracting thousands of applicants each year. Headquartered in Ghana and the United States, Moremi Initiative operates throughout Africa and the Diaspora. • Moremi Initiative is a United Nations accredited organization- in Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and has official partnerships with UN WOMEN and UNAIDS. Moremi currently enjoys ongoing partnership with a wide range of community, governmental and international institutions. • 7 Successful Editions of MILEAD Leadership Institute: In 2015, Moremi Initiative successfully hosted its 7th annual MILEAD Fellows Leadership Institute in collaboration with the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon. The annual Institute convenes cohorts of MILEAD Fellows each year from across the continent and the Diaspora. It provides a unique platform for Fellows to cross-examine concepts of leadership in a broad African context, cultivate the skills and experiences necessary to attain and excel in leadership positions, and gain knowledge on critical issues, relevant to African women and their communities. Over 200 Fellows have graduated from the institute. • Inspirational and Influential Speakers & Mentors: Our world-class faculty, including speakers and trainers has included three former Presidents- Mrs. Mary Robinson of Ireland, Mr. Jerry Rawlings and Mr. John Agyekum Kufour of Ghana. Other notable speakers include Dr. Joyce Aryee—Former CEO of Ghana Chamber of Mines and current Board Chair of Moremi Initiative; Ms. Leymah Gbowee, 2011 Nobel Peace Laureate, Ms. Theo Sowa- CEO of African Women’s Development Fund, Nana Kofi Acquah, Mr. Bright Simons and other top African activists, scholars and leaders from business, academia and public spheres. • Pan-African Experience: Our programs ensure a truly pan-African experience, both in the design and delivery. Moremi’s holistic approach to leadership development combines a range of interactive activities that include and reflect the rich diversity of the continent- giving fellows broader Pan-African worldview and experience. • Powerful & Growing MILEAD Fellows Network: Moremi Initiative boasts of a growing and dynamic alumni network with over 200 exceptional young leaders who share a commitment to shape the future of Africa and their respective communities. Each year, upon graduation from the year-long leadership training, about 25 selected Fellows join the network. Together they form a powerful pan-African community that can dramatically impact the future of the great continent. • Professional and Academic Advancement of Fellows: Our mentoring program leverages the experiences of MILEAD Fellows and mentors to help get other Fellows into competitive academic program globally for advanced studies. Through this program we have created a vibrant network of scholars further equipped to advance the rights of women and girls, and the broader development of the continent. • Over 100 MiCHANGE Projects: One of the distinguishing features of our program is the deliberate integration of community service into our leadership development approach. Every Fellow conceptualizes and implements a community change (MiCHANGE) project that addresses a critical issue of importance in their community. Currently, there are over 100 MiCHANGE projects in operations across the continent- positively and meaningfully impacting thousands of lives and communities. • Collaborative Partnerships & Networking: Collaboration and effective networking are at the core of Moremi Initiative’s strategy and approach. Building both local and international partnerships in the governmental, private and public sector has allowed the organization to maximize its impact and reach, while enhancing the ability to have a cost-effective program of high quality standards. Moremi currently maintains a strong and extensive relationship with partners across borders and sectors. • Training & Capacity Development: We have a strong track record successfully initiating and hosting training programs, dialogues, summits and strategy sessions on transformational leadership, capacity development and advocacy on a wide range of today’s most critical issues. We have developed the capacity and reputation to design and facilitate capacity trainings that strengthen the abilities of leaders and their institutions to deliver results, solve problems and achieve their goals. • Regional Consultations: Over the years, Moremi Initiative has developed a unique capacity to facilitate regional and multi-stakeholder consultations that generate fresh ideas from the continent and provide input into important UN processes. Under the auspices of UN WOMEN-Africa and in partnership with the Imbuto Foundation, Moremi Initiative convened a historic two-day consultative conference in Kigali, Rwanda, which successfully solicited input from young Africans to inform UN WOMEN’s first global strategy. The outcome of this and other related consultations Moremi spearheaded served as the official input from Africa into the original priorities and strategy of the newly created UN WOMEN. Moremi facilitated and currently hosts the UN WOMEN-Africa e-Discussions forum - with over 3,000 young Africans as members on the Facebook discussion forum. • Dedicated, Talented, Multi-disciplinary Team: Moremi’s human resource base includes a strong team of multi-sector experts, leaders and professionals who tirelessly dedicate their tremendous experiences, time, resources and skills to sustain our programs and the organization. It is this level of deep dedication and commitment that has enabled Moremi Initiative to thrive over the last 12 years.
